The Chalk Tower, Flamborough, East Riding of Yorkshire, England.Built in 1674 as a lighthouse. A fire could be lit on the roof though there is no evidence of this. From 1792 it became a signalling point with Semaphore Telegraphy using coloured flags or wooden paddles which moved to communicate a message. It has been Grade II listed since 1952. -- source link
