Late May, 2015 - Nursery Bed / June 4 2015 - Happy QuinceNot the most beautiful bed, but very functional. The liner is from the bottom of a huge tent we found caught on rocks in the river. The bed is positioned in a way to receive only some/lightly filtered afternoon sun, to catch plenty of water from above, and it’s filled with some of our best worm compost mulchy mix. It holds water and air well, and with the liner it means that plant roots won’t grow firmly into the ground. Whenever plants arrive from any journey, they first end up here for our version of pampering. Once they recover, they are easily forked out to other locations.Bigness is overseeing the transplanting of the Quince and other plant goodies from biodiverseed. My goji berries and schizandra vine are NOT happy, not even in this bed. It can be hard to find legit soil pH info online, but it looks like the goji berries prefer alkaline, maybe ~6.5-8! So I liberally applied some of lime + rock phosphate, maybe it will help them recover. As for the schizandra, V suspects a fungal issue. -- source link
