Object of the Week: “Poppy” Inkstand, Clara Wolcott Driscoll (designer), Tiffany Glass and Decorating Company (studio), Stourbridge Glass Company (glass and bronze), about 1901. Purchased in part with funds from the F. M. Kirby Foundation. 2014.4.79. The retail prices of Tiffany Studios’ desk accessories underscores their luxury status. This mosaic inkstand was a costly $30. By comparison, the 1906 Sears, Roebuck and Co. Mail-order catalog advertised a “Common Sense Inkwell” for just $0.07.
