truebluemeandyou:DIY Recycled Cassette Bracelet Tutorial Updated Links 2019Isla Everywhere’s blog is DEAD. Through painful hour long searches trying to update my blog. See my post on Why You Should Use the WayBack Machine to Save Important Posts here.THIS IS NOT MY TUTORIAL. It is a snapshot on the WayBack Machine here.MaterialsCassette with ScrewsHinge 2.5cmZipper 6cm2 pieces of felt 6cm x 10cmGlueSTEPSOpen cassette with screwdriwer and remove the pieces inside. Remember that you need the screws!Smooth the edges inside the cassette covers.Bend the covers in hot water.Make holes for the hinge to the cassette covers.Attach the hinge to the covers with instant glue.Attach the zipper to the sides of cassette also with instant glue.Cut the pieces of felt to the form of bended covers.Put the pieces of felt inside the cassette and glue them.Glue the screws back to their places.Put the bracelet on and get jiggy with it!In the comments someone asked how the cassettes were bent.We put a tin can in VERY hot water and pressed the cassette against it. The time we spent with one cassette was approximately 5 to 10 minutes. We found out that there is a difference between cassettes. From one thrift store we found a bunch of cassettes which probably were all made of exactly same materials, so those cassettes bent well and some other cassettes didn’t.I hope this helps! Feel free to ask more if you need more info! :) -- source link
