erin-studyblrs:thetwelvecaesars:fandom2much4me:thetwelvecaesars:erin-studyblrs:thetwelvecaesars:erin-studyblrs:Library game strong today. I’m working on Ann essay about influential women in Ancient Rome, specifically Agrippina the younger. This is awesome. Agrippina the Younger needs a lot more good attention. She’s honestly really fascinating? Especially cause Tacitus and Cassius Dio are both like she was an influential woman therefore she’s evil. So like reading between the lines for her really reveals a lot, ya feelShe is interesting. Because Agrippina I feel was slandered like Livia (thanks, Graves. Not.) I feel that Agrippina may be a bit twisted and mean, but that doesn’t mean she’s 100% evil. I know she might also be a bit messed up too because of Gaius. She’s definitely someone who needs to be examined in detail before assumptions can be made. She may have made political machinations but then again which upper class romans (senators) weren’t. Besides the fact she was one of the most powerful women in the ancient world which is pretty neat. And then she’s related by birth or marriage to 3 different emperors: Caligula, Claudius, and Nero.I agree. And also, Romans were not very respectful of women. And oh! She was, wasn’t she? I didn’t realise that she was related to 3 until now! XD (I mean, I didn’t COUNT) But you’re right! I also think that she could be a lot like Livia, but I need to read more up on her. But I feel that Agrippina was very different from Livia, though. She’s more… stern, in my head.Same! Livia is more just hanging out in the background and yea she influenced Augustus but it wasn’t even close to what Agrippina accomplished. It’s pretty impressive that she got Claudius to adopt her son, and who would eventually become emperor. It obviously sucks that she was eventually killed because of it but that’s what happened in Ancient Rome when you posed a threat to an emperor with no natal qualms about killing family membersWell, to me, I feel that Nero just didn’t like her. (Or liked her too much.) And to me, Nero was rather dumb. He really was. I feel that Livia did a lot of wonderful things like kept the Empire running while Tiberius was off on his various islands doing icky things. And yes, anyone who intruded on the emperor’s power did tend to get killed. -- source link
