The Jasper Mountains of northern Rabydos are known for its strange and dangerous landmarks, ranging from golden tombs guarded by murderous robots to volcanoes and “forests” of large spinel crystals. But the most interesting of the mountains’ inhabitants are the clown-like Lausorijo that live in Burrow-Cities dug under the rock or carved along its slopes. The Lausorijô are a race of pale humanoids gifted with tough skin. Thousands of years ago, they were created by the Konjor Supercorporation from the remains of harvested Velkachan savages as a clown race, either to entertain their customers or to kill and eat the Supercorporation’s enemies. Like the other Konjor clones, they were liberated by the Obsidian Knights, who gave them their own land. They later became a subject of the Ontemazei Empire, but when they rebelled against its growing cruelty the Ontemazei slaughtered them and used their remains to create the Kelunne, an army of cannibalistic ogres. Hundreds of Lausorijo survived and escaped the bloodbath, settling among the human Dai Mandorai rebels and fighting alongside them against the legions of Emperor Zemasor and the Ontemazei fleets. While migrating away from the raging wars at the highlands to the south of Vozolaz, some Lausorijo settled along the Jasper Mountains, where they built Burrow-Cities to protect themselves from the warlords that dwelled in the region. When the human Rabydosians conquered the region, some Lausorijo fought against the new rulers, while others submitted to the Rabydosian king as they were attracted by the latter’s culture. From there, they learned to forge tools and build machines, sharing their knowledge of lost technology to their Rabydosian allies. Because they needed to build more supplies and many of their people are away fighting their enemies, women among the Lausorijo are encouraged to work in the forge like men. Many of them have started to worship Marduk as their chief god in place of the Vozonid pantheon: one of their battlecries is “Asaruludu Banmaskim”, which means “Wielder of the Burning Blade”, a name for Marduk. Aside from Marduk, they venerate his son Naburi (the god of knowledge), Gibil (the god of the forge), Missaru (lord of law), and Nusku and Sherida (gods of light).Do not be fooled or scared by the Lausorijo’s clown-like appearance: in spite of their frightening faces and their mighty muscles, they are a gentle people dedicated to the finer arts and noble conduct. They are more likely to assist you if you are attacked or if you need help in building or repairing a machine. -- source link
