Or you know, a genoise with chocolate icing looking like the Celestial Record. Here’s the recipe, presented by the loveliest fire seraph!Separate the egg yolks from the white. Mix the yolk with the sugars, then add the flour, the cornstach, the baking powder and the salt.In a separate bowl beat the eggs whites until stiff.Fold the egg whites into the batter bit by bit. Cover the bottom of a rectangular cake pan with greaseproof paper and pour the batter in it. Put in a preheated oven (150°C/300°F) for 25 minutes. Insert a knife in the center of the cake; if it comes out clean it’s ready! And no, you can’t use a dagger. You can leave it as it is or fill it with jam. Now the icing! Melt the chocolate and butter in a double boiler, then slowly add the icing sugar while stiring.Once it’s all melted, turn over the cake and pour the icing over it. Don’t forget to fully cover one side of the cake. Once dry, cut a bit of the three sides not covered to have a clean result. Last step! Print the celestial record crest to make a stencil, mix some icing sugar and food coloring and sprinkle it over the cake. Do the same for the book corners.
