The late American artist and designer Hilton McConnico was a man of many talents. From fashion design, to interior design and scenography, to photography and painting, his creativity had no bounds. Having moved from Tennessee to Paris in his early 20s where he subsequently collaborated with icons like Yves St. Laurent and François Truffaut, McConnico multidisciplinary career made him one of France’s most honoured design artists so it’s only fitting that the first posthumous exhibition showcasing his work is staged at Rupture House, a recently unveiled private gallery and culture hub in Paris under the auspice of cultural marketing agency @ruptureassocies. Curated by one of the agency’s founders @thomas_erber, the exhibition, which closes tomorrow July 31, 2021 (1 place André Malraux 75001 Paris), pays homage to McConnico’s iconic work through a dialogue with three contemporary designers, interior & product designer Pierre Gonalons @pierregonalons, architect & interior designer Vincent Darré @vincent_darre, and ceramics duo Atelier Baptiste & Jaïna @atelierbaptistetjaina, with each one in charge of staging one of the gallery’s rooms.
