knuxtiger4:Its been 7 years now since the lost on my previous cat, Max. Why am I bringing up Max?I make it my mission every year on the day I lost him to educate people on what they feed their pets as it can ultimately decide how well and long your animal will live. I made this mistake and because of it that I lost Max at the age of 4, far too young for any cat.Max was on a diet of dry kibble called Deli Cat produced by Purina and unknown to me at the time, didn’t know it was utter crap for cats and can ruin a male cat’s urinary system. Wasn’t until that weekend in March that Max declined rapidly and spent all weekend trying to save his life, driving him to animal hospitals and vets. Sadly after all efforts, I decided to put Max down due to his chances at the surgery were so slim and he was suffering. I can’t even describe to you guys the bloody screams of pain he made through out the weekend, its something you don’t forget.I know a lot of folks that had this happened to their male cats and had similar fates. Its because of his that in Max’s honor that I spend every year on this day telling people his story and try to educate people on what they feed their critters. If you feed your animal ‘supermarket brand pet foods’, throw it out. That stuff in nothing more than corn and meat meal that isn’t suitable for cats or dogs at all. It might say it meets the standard of pet nutrition but its not, not by a long shot. If you want to make the switch to better quality foods, go for high grade foods that have meat as their first ingredients and isn’t packed full of grains, rice and corn. I’ve learned to educate myself on pet foods and from my research found that raw diets are the best for most animals like cats, dogs and ferrets. If raw isn’t your thing, you can stick to high quality wet foods as the next best thing followed by high quality kibble. You can get middle grade foods but as mentioned above, make sure first ingredients are of what the animal eats and that it doesn’t have unnecessary fillers that don’t belong in there. You can read more on pet food reviews on Brands following the links below as well as recommend diets:Catshttp://catinfo.org/http://petfoodtalk.com/catfoodreviews/#morehttp://www.petfoodratings.org/cat-food-listings-reviews/http://www.naturalcatcareblog.com/2010/12/the-7-best-natural-commercial-cat-foods-so-far/http://feline-nutrition.org/nutrition/easy-raw-feeding-for-the-busy-personhttp://feline-nutrition.org/nutrition/making-raw-cat-food-for-do-it-yourselfersDogshttp://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/http://www.petfoodratings.org/quick-dog-food-reference-table/http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-food-reviews/raw/Ferretshttp://weaselwomancreations.deviantart.com/journal/Raising-Feeder-Mice-for-Ferrets-437438546http://acwn-designs.deviantart.com/art/Ferret-Food-Chart-359164566Small Critters (Rabbits, Hamsters, Mice, Rats, etc)http://www.hamsterific.com/Nutrition.cfmhttp://www.southernhamsterclub.co.uk/new/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=56&Itemid=71http://www.thefunmouse.com/info/diet.cfmhttp://rabbit.org/suggested-vegetables-and-fruits-for-a-rabbit-diet/http://rabbit.org/faq-diet/http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?c=18+1803&aid=1638http://www.thegerbils.com/maintenance3food.htmhttp://www.ratfanclub.org/diet.htmlhttp://www.ratforum.com/showthread.php?39486-Good-and-Bad-Food-for-Rats-amp-Ratty-RecipesReptiles/Amphibians/Fishhttp://www.firsttankguide.net/food.phphttp://www.thinkreptiles.com/snakes/how-to-feed-a-snakehttp://cvm.msu.edu/hospital/services/nutrition-support-service-1/client-education/a-guide-to-the-care-and-feeding-of-pet-snakeshttp://www.caudata.org/cc/faq/FAQcar.shtmlhttp://www.caudata.org/cc/index.shtmlhttp://www.bearded-dragon-food.com/http://www.drsfostersmith.com/pic/article.cfm?articleid=824http://www.moonvalleyreptiles.com/uromastyx/uromastyx-diethttp://blogs.thatpetplace.com/thatreptileblog/2013/10/08/how-to-feed-pet-insect-eating-lizards-the-best-live-foods-2/#.VOPma_nF-SoBirdshttp://dovepage.com/care/http://www.birdtricks.com/blog/the-4-most-important-components-of-a-healthy-diet/http://www.plannedparrothood.com/diet.htmlhttp://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?c=15+1835&aid=2844http://www.holisticbirds.com/pages/foodpp1002.htm(If you guys have other review websites to add, let me know and I’ll add them to this post.
