Throughout his life, Gandhi undertook nearly 20 fasts as political and social protest. October 2nd is his birthday, and in tribute to him, it is also World Day For Farmed Animals.Most farmed animals are starved as they are being transported to slaughter, being packed in a truck with no access to food and water. These trips are often long, and can even last entire days. In remembrance and solidarity with the tremendous suffering that animals go through so people can eat eggs, dairy, and meat, I am participating in #fastagainstslaughter on October 2nd.
