Taurus PT-22, I’m glad I didn’t buy one.The Taurus PT-22 was a gun that I considered buying instead of a Beretta Bobcat. It's similar to a Beretta Bobcat but $50-$100 cheaper. However paying the extra money for a Beretta is well worth it.First of all the PT-22 has a tip up barrel just like the Beretta, but the differences end there. The PT-22 is double action only while the Beretta is double/single action. According to most owners the trigger pull is atrocious. While the Beretta can be chambered by racking the slide the PT-22 can only be loaded by inserting a round in the chamber with the tip up barrel. However, the most prominant difference is in its reliability. While the Beretta is very reliable most PT-22 owners complain of various reliability and functioning problems. Taurus has changed their PT-22 design often and created various gimmicks such as strange colored grips and decorative designs. The lastest model (above) is a much sleaker and space age design. It looks pretty cool but don’t let looks deceive you, it is still the same old PT-22 with all its drawbacks. The Beretta Model 21 and 21A has changed little since 1984 because it is the same reliable and quality product. -- source link
