This is a new, collaborative and long-form journalism project by POC to destroy the white-dominated narrative over environment / nature / outdoors and environmentalism as a whole. .The inspiration comes mostly from the lack of attention given to BIPOC and the work they do for the planet. We are the original “environmentalists”, the original eco-warriors, and yet the narrative is centered around white Americans’ history, voice, thought, etc. ( #wypipo ).The goal is to chronicle the experiences of POC around the world who are in some way fighting for their communities via the exploration of current and past BIPOC work. The history and information exists.
