vodkassassin: simonalkenmayer: athena1138: twerkstallion: geekinglikeaboss: gods i fucking cried This part stood out to me especially This is really important, especially now during the holidays. You owe nothing to nobody if they make you uncomfortable. You’re always allowed to leave. This is really comforting to read and I’m going to need to like, write this down a few times out to memorize it because this isn’t something I want to let myself forget THIS EXACT SITUATION HAPPENED TO ME. I was 10, at a friend’s sleepover birthday party which had around 7-8 girls. They all ganged up on me (for reasons I can’t even remember but it was something fucking stupid and petty) to the point I was sequestered out of the room sobbing. I ended up calling my mom at 2am and she picked me up immediately, no questions asked. I didn’t even ask permission to use the phone, I just fucking did it because there was no reason to stay in a place where I was being treated like utter shit. Setting up boundaries is important. Don’t force yourself to stay in an uncomfortable situation out of fear you’re being ‘rude’ or causing a scene. You don’t owe these people anything. -- source link
