lamus-dworski:Święto Zmarłych - preparations for the Feast of the Dead in the skansen of Masovian countryside in Sierpc, Poland - the days of All Saints and All Souls [in Polish: Wszystkich Świętych and Zaduszki] celebrated on the 1st and 2nd November. This moment would be exactly at midnight, and after that each soul comes to visit the family in their old home. There was a woman who was crying a lot after her lost daughter and in order to see her once again, she stayed in the church for the night. Before midnight the souls begun to gather and her daughter arrived. And she was holding a huge jug in her hand, which she showed to her mother saying that all the tears poured after her death are collected inside.” - Zygmunt Gloger (1845-1910), 19th-century Polish ethnographer. -- source link
