They eat nectar and pollen from the flowers of shrubs and trees, along with some fruits, seeds, and insects. The ends of their tongues have a bristly texture that allows them to feed on nectar and pollen more easily. Pairs line nest cavities, usually in eucalyptus trees, with pieces of decayed wood.
