every Roja x Rishi scene in Roja (1992) — 4/?Context: The bride and groom have talked in private. She informs him that this alliance has been arranged against her wishes and that she has given her heart away to a distant cousin of hers a long time back. However, due to an ongoing family fued, her father is adamant to marry her off to someone else. She says that she has been acting complaint all this while just to appease her family, but she will die if she doesn’t marry the one she loves. She also begs Rishi to not disclose this truth to her family, otherwise they will kill her; she merely asks him to tell everyone that he is not interested in marrying her (which is a lie because he wants nothing more than to marry a village girl). She ends her speech with the classic “my life is in your hands” line, throwing Rishi in a dilemma. When he returns to relay his decision to the village folks, who are eagerly waiting to ring the wedding bells in, he looks at Roja (praying within her heart that the meeting is a success) and makes a split-second decision to do the honourable thing and marry her instead, leaving everyone in the room perplexed. -- source link
