There are no orchestras playing, no sound of idle chatter threading through in the halls—the echoes of Marinette’s shoes across the floor are the only noises, delicate and sharp as she approaches Chat Noir. The whole palace seems to hold its breath as she crosses the floor until they are standing face to face; red to black, both connected by gold. They look at each other, quiet for the longest time.
