qsy-complains-a-lot:Flottans model boarding axe/pistolManufactured in Sweden c.1703~1800′s, based on the Flottans -fleet- pattern of boarding axe.14mm/.55 caliber flintlock pistol, bardiche-like axe head with a false edge and a back hook.Swedish boarding axe were in general strictly designed as weapons, as opposed to British examples which are visibly well suited to utility. They were generally made with large crescent blade capable of thrust, and starting in the 18th century they were supplemented by a thin hook blade. This piece is surprisingly enough not an isolated weapon, but part of a decently sized batch of standard-issue axe-pistols designed by Admiral Erich Sioblad to be adopted by the Swedish navy. A longer variant was also manufactured, and at least one caplock conversion is known to exist. -- source link
