She married him when he managed to kill a lindworm to conquer her hand using hairy brooches and tar, following the offer of her father, an earl of Gotaland that whoever slayed the serpent would gain her hand. The lindworm surrounding her bower had been gifted to Thora by her father and she raised it. Thora appears both in the saga of Ragnar Lothbrok and the Gesta Danorum. It is said she gave Ragnar two sons who were later killed in battle. She died of an illness and Ragnar mourned her for a very long time. -- source link
