mayevenyou:This warm, spicy recipe is inspired by the Mereth Aderthad, the Feast of Reuniting. I like to think of this as a bit like the Viking Thing tradition - where everyone would gather for a midsummer festival, dance and market. So this Scandinavian punch, popular around Christmas time, seems a good fit. It’s good enough to remember, and will inspire “counsels in good will, and oaths to be sworn of league and friendship.”GLOGG - DRINK OF THE FEAST OF REUNITING (serves eight-ish)I Bottle red wine1 large glass sweet wine (Vermouth from your oath cocktails would be good here, or muscatel or marsala is lovely!)0.5 cup raisins10 cardamon pods1 cinammon stickPeel from an orange1 cup sugar (or more to taste)Slivered AlmondsGently warm all ingredients except the almonds. Do not let the mixture boil (you’ll loose the precious booze) but just leave on a gentle heat for the flavours to mingle, stirring occassionally, for five minutes. When ready to serve, pour into your fanciest friendship goblets, sprinke the almonds on top, and drink with a heart high and full of hope.
