samsketch:Some backgrounds I painted for Gravity Falls! Please check out the Gravity Falls tumblr for more work by my crew-mates. This was a really fun episode to paint on - I loved all the retro styling. The last image was actually mostly painted by our Art Director, Ian Worrel, and I just cleaned it up a little, but I did get to design the two posters in the room. (I “highlighted” the posters here because that is what I mostly worked on, but you can see the unedited image on the Gravity Falls tumblr.) This is a little near and dear to my heart, because the alien poster on the left that they wanted is actually a spoof of a poster my grandfather, Al Kallis, originally painted. It was very special to me to get to pay homage to my grandfather in this way.If you are interested in seeing more of my grandfather’s work, this page has a nice compilation of them, including the poster I spoofed in this painting.
