Week 001 - ImpressionismArtist: Frits Thaulow (1847-1906)Frits Thaulow was a Norwegian Impressionist (and Realist) painter. He studied maritime art and planned to work in the field, but he later found himself interested in landscape art. After traveling between Norway and France for several years, he made the permanent move to France, where he lived and worked for the last few years of his life. The period of 1880-1892, coinciding with Thaulow’s return to Norway, was also a pivotal time period for Norwegian art. During these years, the Realist art form became accepted in his homeland. Much of this was based on French models that emulated what he had learned during his year’s living in Paris. When he attempted to paint Impressionist landscapes, he found himself incorporating realistic elements from his childhood so this allowed him to combine his very personal impressions of Norway’s scenery to create a new form of the Impressionist landscape.Ressources:If you want to see all the paintings from Frits Thaulow:https://the-athenaeum.org/people/detail.php?ID=192The wikipedia page:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frits_ThaulowLink to High Resolution in order:https://goo.gl/TfdWDHhttps://goo.gl/AGqrxqhttps://goo.gl/K9QHjVhttps://goo.gl/o3QCWXhttps://goo.gl/p5BD9ghttps://goo.gl/cCmdC3https://goo.gl/aqqv5ahttps://goo.gl/y54W4ihttps://goo.gl/jyXA8A -- source link
