afeelgoodblog: I love the respect Something similar happened to me once! I was walking home alone at like 2am, and on the other side of the road there were these two drunk dudes who saw me. I got super nervous, but one of them, obviously drunk and gregarious about it, calls out to me something like: “Hi! It’s ok we’ll stay over here, but can I ask you something?”Immediately I relaxed like 75%. It wasn’t guaranteed to be a pleasant encounter, but they were showing awareness of boundaries and my sense of safety despite being visibly drunk, and that was a really good sign, so I let them ask.He proceeded to tell me that he was trying to help his very embarrassed friend beside him figure out if a girl liked him, and wanted another girl’s input. After a quick description of events called to me across the street, I told them that signs were good (she was seeking out his company) but I couldn’t really know and he was just gonna have to ask her out and see. They took that answer with a wave and a thank you and went on their way. That was in 2006, and I was so charmed by that interaction it still makes me smile to think of it 15 years later. They showed a lot of respect towards me when so many guys would have taken every excuse to get closer (obliviously or deliberately) or push for more of an answer. But it was just a guy being adorably nervous about his crush and his friend being supportive. I hope both those guys are happy and appreciated in their lives. -- source link
