Part of the “lost city” of Madai'in Saleh in Saudi Arabia. The site dates to the first century CE, and was part of the Nabatean Kingdom, which encompassed parts of modern Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. The Nabateans also built Petra, in Jordan. The residents of the site traded items like myrrh and incense and farmed around desert oases.
