respectyourbully: It came down to me vs Mike for the quarterback position. Everyone was afraid of Mike, being the bully that he was. The whole school was rallying behind me. No one wanted Mike to be the team leader. My girlfriend even gave me a good luck kiss just before the tryout. As soon as we came face to face, Mike winked at me and said with a smirk, “you’re gonna do the right thing, aren’t you.” It wasn’t a question. No one understood why I suddenly wimped out. Why I lost my drive or ambition just like that, or why I didn’t give the tryout 100% after Mike spoke to me. The crowd rallying behind me was gone, and my girlfriend was the only one watching me be outshined by Big Mike. When I got to the locker room, Mike was the only one who was left inside. He was waiting for me. He yanked me by the helmet, threw me down on my knees and showed me what the runner-up got if he didn’t get the quarterback position. He clutched my helmet by the sides and I instinctively opened my mouth. I don’t know why I was so docile around Mike all of a sudden. I didn’t understand why I wasn’t putting up a fight. I didn’t want to, if that makes sense. If anything, I felt like I “won”, even though I didn’t get the quarterback spot. My girlfriend walked into the locker room looking for me, and this is what she saw as soon as she came in. I looked at her, then up at Mike, who gave her the same wink and smirk he gave me on the field. -- source link
