It’s this:He had no business asking her why. When she said stop, his next question should have been the one in the last panel. Or, perhaps, to make sure that she wasn’t uncomfortable/in pain/in need of something particular. But, that’s okay. The purpose of this comic was demonstrating this precise point. Sometimes, behavior in demonstrative scenarios has to be less than perfect in order to serve the purpose it needs to serve. “No” and “stop” are complete sentences. As I’ve said before and explain to my kid… The second she(they) say “can we stop”…. You should be up and reassessing the situation, sex is not worth the truma, pain, or financial ruin you’ll go through… Because she(they) said “stop”. Consent is major to me… Right up there with Consent and willingness to play along(consent)… Wanna get lucky let her(them) lead the ship… The wait will be worth it. Ok….so….yes, no means no and stop means stop. However, it’s not a terrible thing to ask why. Assuming people give half a shit about each other, they often give half a shit about what the other says/thinks/does/feels.So no, asking why isn’t a terrible thing. Pressing would be the terrible thing. Asking why simply shows that person 1 in the above gives at least half a shit about person 2. Not pressing and making a quick alternative suggestion shows person 1 also respects person two. ☝ Fuck yes Exactly. Asking “why” isn’t the same as pressuring, it’s an attempt at problem solving. Like, if the other person wants to stop, it could be for something as easily solved as “I’m not lying comfortably”, “I need to go to the bathroom first”, “I think I’m about to sneeze” etc, so asking if it’s something immediately solvable is entirely justified. “What’s wrong” might be better wording, but it is entirely dependent on the people and situation. It is good to worry. -- source link
