fouryearsofshades: Modern hanfu is not historical hanfu. Modern hanfu is developing, and needed not to be “improved (改良)”. In fact, some worried that those modern hanfu has derived too much from the historical hanfu. These combinations, cuttings and/or styles were probably not existed in history (at least, I am pretty confident about this statement today). Wearing them when going back in time would make one stood up like a sore thumb (for whom it may concern). [Not to mention the differences regarding the fabric and the tailoring techniques] These are modern hanfu. And they are part of the mainstream of hanfu the market today. [Except for maybe the one on the right of 4th row as it seems to be not really fashionable now.] And 斗篷 (cape/cloak) sold today are 100% modern and foreign. For many it is not hanfu but just an accessory adopted to resist winter cold. Shops: 明华堂, 清辉阁 华夏粹, 风熏堂 桑纈, 兰夜心 朝露之城, 剑荷堂 黼秀长安, 双玉瓯 竹里馆 -- source link
