Two years ago I publicly came out. It took years of me dating men to break through the illusion I had been dealt when it came to my sexuality. After months of me validating myself that I was “allowed” to identify as lesbian even though I’d never dated a woman before, I was able to realize a truth about me and feel empowered by it. Sexuality, attraction, and gender come with awareness at all stages of life. Whatever your past may have been, there is always room for self-awareness to grow and that is okay. Whether you enjoy labels and identifications or not, know that whoever you love and whoever you are is right and okay and celebrated. Love is always right and love always wins.
