retro-housewife: The Myth of Faust Often under the guise of a myth, legend, story or perhaps a novel is a depiction of history in which hides a great truth. Such a story is one about Faust, a being of great evil. This story hides a great truth that causes me to question humanity. Faust was a devil and one day he decided to translate the bible. He opened up the book and the page fell open to “In the beginning was the word.” As with all translation work it’s the context and meaning of the words that are of the most importance. Therefore, Faust knew that it meant, “meaning,” “purpose,” and “intelligence.” This devil could not write “the word” because it was too much for him. He could not give anyone other than himself purpose, meaning or intelligence.
