Midoro PondKita, KyotoJapan’s original location for the dreaded phantom passenger urban legend. After picking up a disheveled-looking woman, a taxi driver was asked to take her to Midoro Pond on the outskirts of Kyoto. Upon arriving at the destination, the woman vanished from the back seat; leaving only a puddle of water behind. The area has a number of mental health facilities, and there are reports of patients escaping supervision to throw themselves into the pond to drown.
