72 years ago today, Fred Korematsu’s ACLU Nationwide attorneys gave their opening arguments in Korematsu v. United States, challenging the constitutionality of Executive Order 9066. The Supreme Court would uphold the law, and it would take decades to get an apology from the federal government. Korematsu v. United States was never overturned.
