In a March 12 update, Pledis confirmed that Mingyu was not involved in the bullying and said the misunderstandings with the post’s publisher were resolved after face-to-face discussions.Below is Pledis’ statement from March 21:“Hello, this is Pledis Entertainment.WE WISH to provide additional information on what we have been able to confirm regarding SEVENTEEN member, Mingyu.AGENCY contacted an individual who claimed that our artist was standing next to and laughing when someone from their middle school was assaulted. Although the author of the post wrote as if he was a witness in order to remain anonymous, he was in fact directly involved in the incident. After hearing the author’s account of events, the agency worked to corroborate the facts with the individuals allegedly involved in the incident, along with testimony given to the agency by alumni of the school.FIRST, the artist clearly stated that he had no recollection of the incident described in the post and never encouraged the assault of another student by watching, laughing and saying offensive comments. The post named the assailants, so we checked the testimony of the perpetrators, as well as students who allegedly witnessed the incident. No one recalled the incident taking place, as the author of the post claimed. The author said that a friend who was with them at the time of the incident contacted them, but the friend responded that he did not remember the event either. Since there was no one who could recall the incident described by the post’s author, the post contacted the agency to inform us that they would no longer be pursuing the matter. It’s deeply disturbing that this kind of claim was published online based solely on someone’s recollection, and the issue is coming to an end because it turned out to be an unreliable recollection of the incident. While this and all previous incidents have thankfully been found to have no connection to our artist, it is disturbing to think that there are many people who have received both serious and minor scars from these types of claims, and the time and effort required to respond to these accusations. However, in the course of the agency’s discussions with the author, it became apparent that there were offensive incidents in the post that occurred during their student life that had nothing to do with our artist, so we decided to end the incident without taking further action because the truth was clearly revealed. To date, the agency has terminated all discussions and contacts with individuals who can be identified as related to this issue. We will provide further updates if additional information becomes available.” -- source link
