didyouknowwaltdisney: justplainsomething: giancarlovolpe: tlrledbetter: sialise: bratjedi0: A follow up to my first comic Disney is trying, guys. But countries who they rely on for money will stop airing their shows if they show things they’re not okay with. as certifiedcalibornapologist said, “It still says an awful lot about certain parts of the world that they’re willing to show their children freakish monstrosities, but two adults in a loving consensual relationship is just going too far.” SOMEONE ASIDE FROM ME SAID IT WOO HOO This applies to all kids networks, but Disney’s had the most trouble with it, from what I’ve heard. Heed my words. There is truth in the above comic panels. Painful, horrible truth. ^Last comment was made by the showrunner for Green Lantern: The Animated Series, for the record. Absolute truth and it’s super disheartening. This is also why they stray away from doing anything in their animated features. Because certain countries simply wouldn’t play the films period even if only 5 percent of the film featured any sort of canon LGBT character it still wouldn’t run. That hurts the gross of a film immensely considering most of the return on gross is in the global box office run. So when people say “disney is horrible because they won’t do this” it’s not that they don’t want to (this is company that openly practices acceptance, has a 0 tolerance for discrimination policy, and has a HIGH rate of employees who are in the spectrum) it’s that they sadly can’t for the most part. Until the world becomes a much less crappy place what they can do is sadly limited in terms of media gered for children. -- source link
