mutamur:whitepaperquotes:Handwritten by whitepaperquotes contributor Hannahthis is not from the iliad. no one in the homeric world would even say this really. this is from the movie troy. i’m going to die screaming.my english teacher used to have a test format where you had to name the character who said the quote. people in my class freaked out because they thought it was a huge memory thing when it was really analyzing the quote & the character.the thing that upsets me so much about the prevalence of this misquotation on here is that there has been propaganda forever with people trying to act like ancient greeks/romans agreed with the current ideology & that it somehow meant something extra special because it was oldlike anyone remotely familiar with the iliad would be like “isn’t this the opposite of how they viewed mortality/the gods?” -- source link
