HOUSE MUSEUM PALAZZO D’ARCOPalazzo d’Arco has been the home of d’Arco family since 1740 to 1973. During the 18th century they restored and expanded the building, according to the rules of neoclassical style. The d’Arcos were one of the most important families in Mantova and they hosted here Mozart and his father in 1769.The museum includes the rooms where the family lived, full of old paintings, antiquities, original furnitures and precious objects; a very important library with more than 10000 books; the beautiful park and two 15th cent. frescoed buildings. The last member of the family, Countess Giovanna d’Arco, died without heir in 1973 and decided to donate her palace to the city as a museum.
