One of my favorite parts of living in Dublin is how close it is to so many cute little villages along Dublin Bay and how easy it is to get to them. When I was here in 2015 for study abroad, i managed to get out to Howth which is north of the city, and Bray which is south of the city, but I didn’t manage to make it anywhere else. So when I came back here for working, I promised myself that I would keep exploring all of the other places along the coast, especially since it is only a cheap 30 min train ticket away to pretty much any of the destinations. A few weeks ago, I got off at a stop called Killiney, south of Dublin, which was right on a beach. Immediately I could tell this area was a bit posh with all of the nice, gated houses and very expensive cars parked in the driveway. I started climbing up a pretty steep hill, enjoying the view as I went, and eventually after about 25 minutes, I made it to the top of the hill. The view was unreal…I could have sat up there all day with a coffee and a good book. It looked over the beach where the train station was, and you could see beautiful mountains in the distance. On the other side of the hill, you could see the city and it was simply breathtaking. I would definitely make the trip back there if I get a chance. About a few week after that mini adventure, Nichole and I took a train to Bray and hiked from there to Greystones, which took about an hour and a half. It was a gorgeous walk right along the coast. I had been to Bray before, but we didn’t do this walk, so it was nice to explore somewhere new! A few of my friends from college are coming in a few weeks, so I definitely want to take them to one of these places when they’re here!! This next month should be really fun~ This past weekend, Maddy and I went to Eindhoven, Netherlands for a little getaway!! Our flight was really cheap so we didn’t have much time there, but it was nice to explore it for the time we had anyway! Unfortunately the weather wasn’t the best, but we had a really nice dinner in the city centre and we found some cool coffee shops so it was definitely worth the trip! In 2 weeks, Kieran and I are heading to Belfast for the weekend to celebrate VALentine’s Day…sorry, I had to. Then, my friends from college will be here the following week! Should be some good craic, really looking forward to it!! Write again soon!! :) -- source link
