reversatility1:Root Keeps HerPromise (Person of Interest 4.21)Yeah, another gifset of Martine getting what was comingto her, ’cos seeing Root spring up and snap her neck doesn’t get old. I both felt like this was not enough for Martine’s death–like I was expecting something bigger for the end of her character–and that this was E V E R Y T H I N G. This scene is Root’s absolute nightmare scenario. All season she’s been saying over and over, in different ways, that she doesn’t mind dying so long as the ones she loves are safe. That list is Shaw, Harold, and The Machine. At this moment, Shaw is alive, possibly brainwashed or hurt, and in the wind; Harold is captured because of Root and The Machine is giving up Her location because of Root, and nobody will even have the decency to just kill her. This is the absolute worst thing that could happen, in Root’s world. And there’s nothing she can do about it, in the general way…but she can protect Harold from Martine, and she can avenge her loss (however potentially temporary) of Shaw on Martine.
