classicvintagecycling: kinkicycle: Monsieur X by Rob Via Flickr: Mid 1940s alloy frame Parisian bike, as found. The original owners told me this frame had been sitting in a local shop, run by a racer called Mantovani, during World War II. It was built up after purchase, circa 1946. It’s been almost two years since I’ve had this machine, the time it took to put a name to the frame. Just after posting this image, I found a detailed period description of the first alloy frame Nicola Barra showed to the public in 1936. This one looks to have been made shortly after. It is stamped “22”. *Postscript* This looks to be on of the earliest alloy frames by Nicola Barra from 1936. The build is circa 1946. 1940s build of a 1930s Nicola Barra frame. -- source link
