On TargetFirst Saturday, Brooklyn-based collective of healers Harriet’s Apothecarywill transform our Beaux Arts Court into a healing space for ourvisitors and offer completely free healing services including tarotreadings, acupressure, herbalism, partner stretch, sound healing, vision boardmaking, and more. I’ve been honored to collaborate with Harriet’sApothecary to host healing services completely led by black cis women, queer, and trans folks at such a large scale for the first time in our museum. Harriet’sApothecary was founded in order to continue the legacy of abolitionist, community nurse, and herbalist Harriet Tubman by offering a range of health andhealing resources. The Apothecary acknowledges that the act of healing isnecessary in order to transform and make change in our communities; and thatengaging and empowering folks through various methods of healing can be a formof activism. In the words of Adaku Utah, activist, healer, and founder of Harriet’s Apothecary:“Harriet’s Apothecary is an intergenerational, seasonal, healing village led by the brilliance and wisdom of Black Cis Women,Queer and Trans healers, artists, magicians, activists and ancestors. Ourvillage, which manifests at the bloom of every Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winterin Brooklyn, is committed to co-creating accessible, affordable, liberatory,all-body loving, all-gender honoring, community healing spaces that recognize, inspire, and deepen the healing genius of our vessels.”Participate in healing services, browse pop-upshops on Saturday from 6-9 pm and find out more about the mission and servicesof Harriet’s Apothecary here.Posted by Lauren Zelaya -- source link
