You can give it up. You can renounce what you said. You could go on with the rest of your life and stop turning up to fascist rallies. Anti-fascists probably aren’t going to be your best friends, but they’ll move on. But if you’re a person of color, if you’re trans, or a person with a disability, or gay, or Jewish and fascists come for you, there is nothing you can do to make them happy except stop existing. That’s the key difference between the far-left and the far-right. Anti-fascists organize themselves against those that are building fascism. If you are doing that, that is something you can nonviolently stop doing. If you’re a political enemy of antifa, you can become a friend. If you’re a political enemy of fascism though, then they lose or you die.Ok, here’s the thing for me: I always see these posts about left and right, and it bothers me because I don’t fitThere’s a left, and there’s a right, but I’m pretty much exactly in the middle on every single subject of debate, so I just never say anything and it hurtsSo what do you mean by middle? Is your opinion always shifting depending on where any two positions are? Or are you an actual centrist in so much as you believe in a completely mixed economy and a liberal state apparatus? And if you’re a centrist, do you mean True Center or the center between, say, Trump and Clinton, or Clinton and Sanders? What “middle” do you mean?Do you feel there’s a middle ground between, say, indefinitely detaining millions of people because they crossed a man made line and not doing that? Between believing lgbtq people should have rights, and not? Believing black and brown people are inherently inferior because of their genetics, or not?Any of them? Or is saying “I’m in the middle” just a cop out from having any firm convictions on anything. I don’t mean this to be as rude as it’s sounding, but I find it hard to believe that there is a middle to everything. MLK was 100% right, the (white) “moderate prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice.” That only harms all of our causes. The Mysterious Mr. Enter believes in the horseshoe theory and he’s a huge centrist. When I found this out I unsubscribed. -- source link
