Ripening Cacao Pods, United States National Botanical Garden, Washington, DC, 2015.Posted a picture of this same tree, perhaps these pods when still green, several months ago when Ebola was ravaging parts of West Africa. Thankfully that epidemic was neither as long lived nor as devastating as initially feared (though all too many died or were incapacitated), and world cacao production was not badly impacted. -- source link
