globochem:fallopianrhapsody:insensitivegentleman:let’s all strive to be more like jimmyFor every Jimmy, there’s an extreme athiest asshole forcing his non beliefs on others as well.No way. This some unacceptable bullshit. What is this whole ‘beliefs are a one way street’ attitude that dominates society? Christianity or GTFO? “Shut up, logic, cuz someone’s talking about their faith in fables!” Unacceptable. This is exactly WHY there are “atheist assholes” like myself. The whole suppressive “shut up and deal with it” attitude is scary. And it’s perpetuated BY the religious, not the non-religious. Honestly this is some serious church clip art meme fuckery. No right-minded non-religious person would ever post such crap. GUARANTEE this stellar MS Paint job was slopped together by a nervous religgie. Really, it’s totally possible and okay to be polite and let people have their beliefs WITHOUT feeling obligated to self-censor your own ideals. It’s possible to express them politely both ways. I, however, will readily be the first to admit that I am not a good example of the polite non-believer, because continual nonsense like this turns me into a ranting soapbox atheist. I’m not religious in the slightest, but this whole clip art photo just sounds silly. Extremism is universal, and there’s a difference between being someone sharing their beliefs/non beliefs in a discussion and somebody that brow beats you and completely shuts you out for not sharing their world view. I’ve been on both sides of this, living in a conservative religious simulacrum of hell(aka orange county, california), and living with hardcore atheists in ironically another conservative religious simulacrum of hell(oklahoma city, oklahoma). My point is, Atheists can be just as loud and dickish in sharing their beliefs as Christians can. -- source link
