vtbikes:lacletaoficial: kuatdriveyards: wigglygiggle: how many of you learned about fixed gears and track bikes from Sheldon Brown? *raises hand* Yep. Jaja jaja! Yo! The man, and he is missed. 10 years ago I read enough of what he wrote to make a fixie conversion that wouldn’t kill me, then to restore my old mountain bike that had been collecting dust. Then I read everything he wrote. Now I have rollers, a tandem, a cross bike, an antique folder, a carbon road bike, a complete 2-up goldsprints setup, a townie beater bike for groceries. And I ride and use all of them. Because of Sheldon I’ve built up wheelsets, monkeyed around with NuVinci hub conversions for friends, organized Kidical Mass rides, put on series of indoor trainer riders, put on goldsprints races, and ridden many, many miles in beautiful places. I have found blood and sweat and serenity. And it’s all because 10 years ago I was bored and uninspired and I happened across this little website authored entirely by this one guy. Thanks, Sheldon. -- source link
