my18thcenturysource:On Wednesdays We Wear Pink:“The Pybus family”, c.1769, Nathaniel Dance, National Gallery of Victoria.I hadn’t made a pink post in a while!Well, here we see this nice family: John and Martha Pybus, and their children (from left to right) Martha, Anne, John Jr, and Charles. All wearing something pink (except Charles, he cool with his white dress and blue ribbon). In 1769 they had just returned from India a year before, where John Pybus had worked for the East India Company since he was 15 years old (whaaaaaa?!). That same year, Nathaniel Dance exhibited his portraits of King George II and Queen Charlotte in the Royal Academy, so we can all tell the amount of money Mr Pybus had while choosing him for a family portrait (insert here the gif of Leonardo DiCaprio throwing money). -- source link
