peashooter85:Harrington Volley GunPatented by Henry Harrington in 1836, these curious little pistols were made from 1836 to 1837. They usually had seven chambers, but being a volley gun they fired all chambers at once. The most common caliber was .31 ball with powder and percussion cap. The pistol was loaded with a special chamber insert (reminds me of a honeycomb) that was loaded with powder and shot, then inserted into the breech. Many models fired all chambers but double hammer models were made that fired four shots in one burst, then three in another. A rifle version was also made. -- source link
