A whale hunt is depicted in the secondimage. The paintings were done with bright red iron oxide.Makeshift harpoons with 3m-long wooden shafts and detachablearrowheads have previously been found in the region, dating from aslong ago as 5,000 BC. These artifacts, and the rock art, show thatmarine hunting was very important for the people living in theregion. They also fished and gathered molluscs. -- source link
