harobmxbikes: Nick Ziegler from Moline, Illinois has been donating BMX bikes since 2009 under the Midwest BMX donations program. The catch is they have to go to a really deserving home. Young and old, male and female Nick has helped so many with their dream of owning a BMX bike. “We have currently given away 120 bicycles from the mid grade - $2000. We build bikes around kids riding style, whether it be racing, street, park, flatland. This is a family program. My brother and I our are top techs, My wife does the photos when she can. My buddy Ron Anderson helps us as a tech when he can and Josh Smith is helping us on media with others in the mix. We are on facebook, bmxmuseum.com and vintagebmx.com people can always see what comes in, and the process of what goes out!” Who pays the shipping? Our BMX program usually pays the shipping with donations that are left over. What has been the most inspiring story so far? So many. I have a few kids a bike who have never raced before and their first races ever brought home trophy’s from the top 3 in their classes. How many HARO’S have gone out to kids in need? At least eight from 100:1 models to full custom Lineage builds. Any thanks to the companies or people that have been helpful for your cause? Over the past four years almost every company in BMX has donated something in one way or another. I want to thank everybody. A true BMX community team effort! The custom Haro Lineage bike above is being donated. If you would like to nominate someone or have a story yourself worthy enough to get the bike, hit Nick up on facebook. There is also a paypal set up under GIVEBMX@ROCKETMAIL.COM. -- source link
