kandidlyrandom:lizziethereader:Weekly Bookish Question #113 (January 27th - February 2nd)What kind of book reviews do you like to read? And what’s a really good book review for you?I like short, concise, reviews that tell me why you liked the book, and your brief thoughts on it, or why you think others should read it. I don’t want another plot summary, nor do I want your life story, Hemingway style, about the conditions under which you read the book, or the food you ate etc. Just like in recipes now a days - I don’t want all that - just give me the recipe - or in this case the review. By all means make it poetic if you’d like, I love that shit, just stick to reviewing the book, not outlining it, or writing your own biography within it. Yes to everything @kandidlyrandom said. I also like when reviewers compare the books to other books, so I know if I might like them based on how I liked the other books. Like: You might like Uprooted if you liked The Bear and the Nightingale or Wintersong. -- source link
