16ruedelaverrerie:The St Albans Psalter, pages 70 (The Supper at Emmaus) and 71 (Christ Disappearing at the Supper at Emmaus). If you think that I am posting these because the St Albans Psalter is gorgeous and the website for it that the University of Aberdeen has up is an absolute treasure, you would make me feel like a terrible person— because whereas both of those things are very true, I am mostly posting these because I find this sequence of images HYSTERICALLY FUNNYI mean, Jesus disappearing off the top of the page! And those two disciples! THEIR FACES! IS THIS NOT HILARIOUS. It also reminds me of that joke in Saint Young Men where they only recognize Jesus during the breaking of the bread because he is super awful at picking all the little bones out of his fish, so that I just assume Jesus is peaceing out ASAP in the second image because he is equal parts fed up and embarrassed by the whole ordeal, and he is trying to clear his throat free of all the tiny bone debris and coughing as he rises and the coughing fades away slowly as he rises further and further upGOD I LOVE IT. -- source link
