sylvansapphic:Norse Mythology- The Wives of LokiAngrboða, Chieftess of Jarnviðr, mother of monsters. During the Golden Age of Ásgarðr, the God of Mischief came wondering into Jarnviðr, and encountered the newly appointed leader of the Ironwood. She offered him a warm welcome, and within a few nights she invited him into her bed. The following morning he left for Ásgarðr, and she was left with a child. When Loki returned a few months later, she had already given birth to their daughter, Hela, a peculiar young girl with strange marking down one side of her face. Not that Loki minded - he was just pleased to have a daughter. He even came with some news of his own. Although a little sheepish at first, he soon admitted that he’d married a woman in Ásgarðr, worried that Angrboða would be angry. Her reaction was exactly the opposite - she was happy for Loki, and demanded that he brought this other woman to meet her.It took a while to organize, and by the time Sigyn made it to Jarnviðr, she was already heavily pregnant with twins, and Angrboða and Loki had already had another child, Fenrir. Despite Loki’s worries, the two women couldn’t have gotten on better. Sigyn would have been happy to remain in Jarnviðr with Angrboða for the rest of her days, had Loki not dragged her back to Ásgarðr.Sigyn and Angrboða remained close friends, and also lovers, supporting and helping each other bring up all five of their collective children. Each looked to the other for help when she needed it. They even stick together as Loki begins to wonder astray. And at the end of the world, at Ragnarok, they’ll be there, together, demanding justice for their family. -- source link
